I find I have less and less sympathy for people who want to stay injured for life. Sometimes we mess ourself up. Sometimes others mess us up. Either way, if you are in a relationship with Christ Jesus and are following sound counsel of trustworthy and godly leaders, the chains should be breaking. The wounds have to heal at some point. The misinformation from the past must be rewritten. People who insist on staying wounded, and hold on to errant beliefs are missing the point of having a relationship with God ….
Not only is it hard to dance around the wounds and issues they have, it gives their past a new power. The power to hurt those around them ….
When you start life over with Christ, the old has to go. Whatever influenced your mind in the past should be examined carefully before you give it a free pass into your new future. Don’t bring all your old ideas and habits along for the ride. It only takes one very bad thing from the past to sour the future if you choose to let it.
There are limits to what others can consider and accept as normal. Normal isn’t bad in all arenas. Sometimes we need a little of it in today’s world. Too many people are fascinated by NOT being normal in any way. Then they are hurt when not accepted immediately by the mainstream. We all get to make choices. Accept there will be consequences to your choices and stop being the victim.
Also, as a whole, we need to learn to listen to those who know more about a subject than we do. I don’t think I will try to fly a plane, but if a pilot tells me something about flying a plane I will believe him instead of doing it another way I think is better. That would be the definition of stupidity. I’m not fond of chosen ignorance. It’s forgivable but very unattractive and not conducive to a successful life.
Just my ramblings for today …
