“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.”
(2 Corinthians 4:8-9)
Goliath had Saul and the armies of Israel viewing the situation from a human perspective, “Have you seen this man?”, while David views things from God’s perspective, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine?” Saul had confidence in his armor as long as David was the guy wearing it! David had confidence in his God. Saul was concerned about his own image, David was concerned with the honor of God. So from David we learn this: to defeat the giants in life, we need a spiritual perspective, a practical faith, and a deliberate focus on God’s glory ….
We need David’s spiritual perspective! Saul and the armies of Israel were afraid because they saw it as a conflict of their puny muscle against Goliath’s mighty muscle, of their little weapons against Goliath’s impressive weapons, of their experience in warfare against Goliath’s experience. But David saw it as a conflict between God and the forces of evil. Saul and his men saw Goliath and thought, “He’s so big we can never kill him!” David saw the same man and thought, “He’s so big, I can’t miss!”
I come by this morning to remind someone to take your eyes off of Goliath and put them on God. Whatever the problem, if you want to conquer it, the first step is always to do what David did, call it what God calls it and to call yourself what God calls you ….
This problem is not a Philistine champion; it is an uncircumcised Philistine; it is sin, it is offensive to the living God. And I’m not just a servant of Saul; I’m a member of the army of the living God; a child of the Risen King. I’ve been redeemed by the blood of Christ and the battle is His! That’s the starting point for victory. The bible says in (Ephesians 6:12); “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Remember: whatever you are facing; you are not defeated nor cast down! Your Goliath is absolutely NOT bigger normore powerful than our mighty God!!!
Be blessed and I love you!!!
