“Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. Who passing through the valley make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.”(Psalm 84:5-6)
Comfort does not come to the light-hearted and merry. We must go down into the depths if we are to experience this most precious of God’s gift; comfort and strength; and thus be prepared to be laborers for Him through His Spirit working in and through us ….
When night gathers over the garden of our souls; when the flowers no longer hold any sunlight within their folded petals, still there shall never be want of anything, even in the thickest of darkness; as He is ever with us ….
I have been through the valley of weeping, the valley of sorrow and pain; I have lamented over the souls of friends and loved ones, and poured myself out at the alter; but the God of all comfort was with me; always at hand to uphold me and sustain me through the darkness ….
As the earth needs the clouds and the sunshine; so our souls need both sorrow and joy; so at times He places us in the furnace, thus to burn up any unnecessary thing, not needed or that would hinder our progress in that which He has called and purposed us to achieve ….
When He leads us through some valley of trouble or testing; we can yet trace His Omnipotent hand, for the trials and sorrows He sends us are all part of His lessons in grace. Too often, we shrink from the pruning and purging; forgetting that the Master knows that the deeper the cutting and the paring; the richer the cluster that grows, and the sweeter the fruit it shall produce ….
How well He knows that affliction is needed to produce endurance, and to mold and strengthen us. He has a wise purpose in view, and even in the dark valley; in that still, small voice, He whispers, “hereafter you will know what I do” ….
As we travel life’s shadowed valleys, fresh springs of life and of His love ever appear, and we rise in the morning with joy to learn that our sorrows and losses are simply just blessings sent in disguise. Therefore, will I follow wherever He leadeth me, whether the path be dreary or bright; whether I be in riches or poverty, sorrow or joy; for He has proven that He can give comfort when I humble myself, and He even brings songs in the night ….
“But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk.”
(1 Corinthians 7:17)
“How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.”
My Lord and my God; I pray that I may willingly submit to the work of the Holy Spirit in my life; even on those occasions when I do not understand …. and I ask that all that is of me may decrease and all that is of Christ may increase, until He is all in all of my life, to Your praise and glory.
Please gift and every talent that You have graciously given to me to Your praise and glory that it may honor only You … Help me to fulfill all that You would have me do in my life and may I be obedient to Your voice as I seek to carry out Your purpose for my life. May I rejoice evermore and pray without ceasing.
May I give thanks in ALL things, even in my sorrows and afflictions, and may I always hearken to the voice of Your Holy Spirit and may I hold fast to that which is good and abstain from all forms of evil; knowing that this is Your will for my life. Help me and strengthen me I pray, to not waver nor compromise my beliefs nor my faith in You for any reason. All this in Jesus name I pray, Amen …
“Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.” (2 Timothy 1:9)
