Choose Life ~

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”
(Deuteronomy 30:19)

When the Israelites were coming to the Promised Land, God gave them clear and distinct instructions to follow. He didn’t give a series of rules and regulations because He wanted to control them. Rather, He wanted them to live a good life filled with joy, peace, and the security of His presence. By choosing to obey God’s commands, they were choosing life. By choosing to disobey God’s commands, they were choosing death. Plain and simple ….

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we also can choose between life and death by how we live. We have been given free will and the power to choose, and everything in life involves a choice.
When we choose God’s ways over our own desires, we choose to bring life to our dreams and destiny. In the same way, choosing to disobey or ignore key truths of God’s word will most certainly bring death to the purposes and plans of our lives. How can we daily choose life over death? Let’s take a look, shall we?

C – Converse with God in prayer every single day ~

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”
(Ephesians 6:18)

H – Honestly evaluate our heart motives for why we do what we do ~

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”
(2 Corinthians 13:5)

O – Open our hearts and minds to know and live God’s word ~

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
(James 1:22)

O – Order our priorities based on an eternal point of view ~

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
(Colossians 3:2)

S – Seek opportunities to speak life into the lives of others ~

“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”
(Ephesians 4:15)

E – Engage in activities that build the kingdom of God ~

“Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding Him.”
(Acts 28:31)

Our daily choices will result in the fruit of spiritual life or death. Our Lord gives us the freedom to choose so that we will follow Him with all of our hearts. His grace and favor will overtake us every morning as we choose life by obeying His commandments ….
Begin today to set your mind and heart to making good choices; choices that lead to peace, love, joy, happiness, contentment, and life …..

Dear Lord, I want to choose life every single day. Strengthen me to walk according to Your ways, and to make positive choices leading to Your blessings. Amen.
