Choose This Day!!!
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve.” (Joshua 24:15)
Have you ever known someone who likes to straddle the fence? I have. They really don’t want to make a stand one way or another, preferring a middle ground. It’s frustrating to deal with them too because decisions have to be made and followed on. However, when you have a double-minded person, you can’t move forward, which usually means you get behind …. and we know what the Word says also about these types: “a double minded man is unstable in all his ways” (James 1:8).
Many people straddle the fence in their faith. They want to love God, but they also want to love the world. They say they want to obey God’s Word, but they also want to follow after their own passions and lusts. You absolutely cannot do both. Oil and water do not mix. Jesus spoke about this instructing us to take heed: “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). Many want the benefit of eternity with God, without the commitment of faith to follow His word. They really don’t want to make a choice. This ought not be in the body of believers in Jesus Christ ….
Jesus spoke plainly that “Whoever is not with me is against me.” (Luke 11:23) We don’t get to play on both teams ~ we are either on God’s side or the devil’s. There is NO middle ground at all. If any struggle with this concept, then I would suggest some serious soul searching, as it may be that we really didn’t get saved in the first place …. God explicitly spoke about this as well; being that we are either hot ~ or cold ~ and anything inbetween, being of course lukewarm, well, it is distasteful to say the least, and He will spew you right up out of His mouth (Revelations 3:15-16).
Our salvation is based on our confession that “Jesus is Lord” (Romans 10:9-10). If Jesus is Lord of our lives, then there is no question on which side of the fence we fall on. We can fall completely into the hands of Jesus to help us deal with our weaknesses, so that we can overcome them and move forward. When we give everything we have, and that means ALL; and believe to the Lord for everything, He works all the intricacies of our lives for good. We can’t go wrong with choosing Jesus with our whole heart. He will never leave us, let us down, or forsake us when we are tempted, discouraged or struggling with anything …..
Therefore, I say to you: choose this day!! Whom shall you serve: the Lord and His righteousness ~ or the world and your flesh? Choose ye this day whom you will serve. Jesus IS returning soon; it could even be this very day. No one knows the day nor the hour. Will He find you waiting; busy about His business ~ or stuck in front of your telvision consumed with the worldly pursuits? “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” …..
“Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the Lord God of Israel.
And the people said unto Joshua, The Lord our God will we serve, and His voice will we obey.” (Joshua 24:23-24)
Let us pray ~
Dear Lord, I want to give my whole heart to You for healing and cleansing. I pray for the strength to remain completely committed to You in my words and actions today and everyday …. In Jesus holy name I pray, Amen.
